So true… I use tape based cameras as a primary but use a hard drive for secondary/B-roll stuff. I make it a habit of deleting any footage that I don’t need when I transfer and store the good footage on my external HD. I suggest when your shoot is finished turn on that hard drive camera, click through and delete the bad footage. Hard drives make it so easy to delete stuff where as in a tape based system you have to capture then cut and delete.
Thanks for the article. This is why I like and use the Sony Z7U. It records HDV/DV to both tape and to compact flash at the same time. It’s a great camera.
Is this a wordpress or a typepad blog? The theme is real nice.
It is a custom word press shell.
Thanks for the kind words.
